[ this is the task that is the least involved with being around lots of other people, therefore, yin yu finds himself there early in the week. after helping to feed some of the animals, he's sitting down on the ground with a tiny creature in his lap and two others playing with the jade token hanging off of his belt.
it is delightful. this is the best place. when akira addresses him, he lifts his head, then gives a little bow of it. he's masked, today. ] ...They are. [ like everything in this petting zoo is very cute. ] Have you come to complete a task as well?
he gives a nod, glancing down at the panda ball in his lap. it does not seem like it's going to move anytime soon. ] We can, though, you may have to forgive my sitting.
[ yin yu tilts his head. ] What do you need, Akira?
[ ...oh. his token! right. yin yu shakes his head and gently bats it away from the panda friends to lift it for akira's inspection. the token is simple and round, laced to his belt with a red string, and bears the characters "下弦月使 " and "鬼市" carved into it. ]
It is a token that allows me entry and passage into many places at home, with the favor of my master. [ a nod! ] Something along the lines of "Envoy of the Last Waning Moon, Ghost City."
[ nah he's had it since he got his real clothes back. ] Why do you ask?
No, no. I attempted to track them the last time I saw them... I scared them off, though. [ he reaches up and taps the side of his own mask, and his tone comes out fairly dry. ] I thought perhaps we'd have something in common.
Perhaps. [ admittedly, he was more suspicious than friendly, but... well, maybe next time. it was hard not to be incredibly suspicious. he's down to like maybe 75% of where he was towards their 'directors'.... but old habits die very hard, so. ]
[they absolutely do, and considering their circumstances, Akira can't blame him or anyone else for being suspicious. even if he himself is 100% in the directors' corner]
. . . well, anyway. All that aside. . .
[a pause]
You know how Dick had someone use their power on him this past weekend, and it negated his curfew effect until 11:00 p.m. the night before trial?
[on Tuesday evening, Akira returns to the cabin to find Yin Yu already there settling in. he flashes his roommate a smile before he attempts to shake some of the water from his poncho]
[ everything about this memory thing is terrible. yin yu hates it. after his experience on monday afternoon, he's been even more elusive than usual, catching strange hours in the cabin and sleeping a little more during the day, just trying to keep it away. therefore, when akira comes in, it's a little surprising, but... there's no stopping it now.
he's seated cross legged on his own bunk, folding what looks to be a bit of laundry, mask off to the side of his face. in greeting, he gives a little bow of his head, keeping his gaze focused downwards. just in case. ] ...it has. It doesn't seem as if it'll let up anytime soon, either.
[considering the SHENANIGANS of the week, Akira can't exactly blame Yin Yu for keeping his gaze downward. he takes no offense to it at all, and makes sure to keep his distance as he meanders towards the ladder to his top bunk]
[provided nothing happens on Tuesday, Akira will be hanging out near the theater on Wednesday, watching the trial! and paying particularattention to two individuals every time they're on screen]
[despite the subject matter, he looks. . . fond. exceedingly fond]
[ yin yu's tried not to look at the theater too much this week. honestly, the first trial is the worst of all of them, and he's only passing by when he notices akira's attention.
for a moment, he tries to remember. he had a conversation with that young master, at the very beginning...
a guy with dark, curly hair and glasses, ]
...Akira, did you know them? [ as ryuji does something very ryuji on the screen. who knows. its probably Camp Daddy. ]
Ah... I don't know if it was that much. [ after all, at the beginning of this fiasco, he was even more closed off than he is now. he barely talked, most days, kept his mask on almost all the time.
how far we've come, since then. ] But, I can see why you all got along.
week two, monday
They're cute, aren't they?

[Akira notices it, but doesn't comment jjjjust yet as he folds his arms and leans against the petting zoo fence]
Mmm? No, actually. I was looking for you specifically.
Can we talk?
no subject
he gives a nod, glancing down at the panda ball in his lap. it does not seem like it's going to move anytime soon. ] We can, though, you may have to forgive my sitting.
[ yin yu tilts his head. ] What do you need, Akira?

[. . . well then]
[he nods at the jade token, brow furrowed]
Where did you get that. . .?
no subject
[ ...oh. his token! right. yin yu shakes his head and gently bats it away from the panda friends to lift it for akira's inspection. the token is simple and round, laced to his belt with a red string, and bears the characters "下弦月使 " and "鬼市" carved into it. ]

Well, if I'm being honest, I wondered if you got it from the person in the Jade Mask.
[sheepish, he lifts a hand to rub the back of his neck]
But if it's just a token from home, then I'm glad you have it with you.
no subject
No, no. I attempted to track them the last time I saw them... I scared them off, though. [ he reaches up and taps the side of his own mask, and his tone comes out fairly dry. ] I thought perhaps we'd have something in common.
[ they're both jade masks. ]
no subject
They are pretty shy. . . soft-spoken, too. I think you two would really get along.
[jade mask friends get!!]

week three, tuesday
It's really come down out there, isn't it?
no subject
he's seated cross legged on his own bunk, folding what looks to be a bit of laundry, mask off to the side of his face. in greeting, he gives a little bow of his head, keeping his gaze focused downwards. just in case. ] ...it has. It doesn't seem as if it'll let up anytime soon, either.

Did you buy an umbrella from the camp shop?
week four, wednesday

...Akira, did you know them? [ as ryuji does something very ryuji on the screen. who knows. its probably Camp Daddy. ]

Hm?
[he tilts his head in Yin Yu's direction, before acknowledging him with a tiny grin]
Oh. . . yeah, I do.
[he sounds just as fond as he looked earlier]
Ryuji and Yusuke are two of my closest friends.
no subject
...A person with curly black hair, and glasses. [ he says, with a little huff of a laugh. ] I see, now.
[ well. ] I spent a bit of time with both of them. Young master Sakamato, especially.
no subject
[he turns back towards Yin Yu, interest immediately piqued]
They're both characters, aren't they? I hope Yusuke ate well while he was there.
[YUSUKE'S FOOD PROBLEMS. . .]
no subject
There wasn't much food to be eaten.... but we all did the best that we could.
[ a beat... ] He did carve a statue of a lobster out of sand at one point. [ .... ] I believe twice.
no subject
I bet they were real works of art.
[HE SAYS THAT SO SOLEMNLY AND EVENLY IT'S HARD TO TELL IF HE'S BEING SERIOUS OR NOT]
no subject
[ yusuke was... very...
he was something. ]
no subject
I'm glad you got to meet them.
. . . and become their friend, too.
[or. he's assuming they were friends, based on how kindly Yin Yu speaks of them]
no subject
