[Akira just. . . huffs a little bit, rolling onto his side and propping himself up with one hand as his gaze flickers between Yin Yu and Dick. it's not that Dick is wrong, per se, it's just--]
Well. . . to be fair, by the time Lili got to us, I think you had already been walking around normally in front of other people.
[ he gives just a brief duck of his head in accordance with akira. ]
If you will forgive my boldness for a moment, Master Grayson... we would have benefitted from knowing the cause of it, as well. [ a brief pause... he just sounds as calm and even toned as ever. ] This was the second time that Lady Lili has spoken of you as someone quite trustworthy, and it was at her insistence that I ceded. Even still, she was not forthcoming with details as to why, only insisting that it was important, and that it was not her story to tell.
...I believe I can speak for either of us in saying that we do not mind helping to bear the load, if necessary.
[ dick's gaze lingers on akira for a second (all the more reason to not?? go through with it??) before he sighs, sticking his hands in his pockets and looking at yin yu. ]
I wasn't certain about the cause myself at first, but I had a hunch. Which meant I knew it was for the best if we were just straightforward with it to start with-- everyone here has more than enough cause to be paranoid of one another without adding to it by keeping unnecessary and obvious secrets.
[ keyword being. unnecessary and obvious, mainly. ]
[. . . at that, Akira's expression just sort of wrinkles in frustration. it doesn't seem to be directed at Dick, though. he's staring at the ceiling again]
[quietly]
. . . you know it's not that easy, Dick.
[what with how there are so-called consequences for them sharing teams and powers with more than a certain number of people a week]
Is it not easier to confirm such things when more than one pair of eyes have looked on it? None of us are so new to this that we are hopeless in investigating, or at least corroborating details.
[ he's in agreement with akira--but, as a certified Lone Wolf TM, he gets where dick is coming from. ] I would rather be careful of something or someone I do not know well, than cause fingers to point unnecessarily where I have placed some of my trust. We cannot control the actions of others in camp, only those of ourselves, and I am not the type to be so easily made paranoid.
That's not what I'm saying. [ that works for? both of them? sort of. ] There are ways to be careful in situations like these, without putting anyone at risk.
[ but he shakes his head ]
Hopefully, it won't happen again, and this'll be a moot point. But I'm serious. Don't try to hide anything so obvious again. This could've easily blown up in all our faces even worse than it already did.
[there's a lot Akira could say here, but. . . there's not much of a point to starting an argument. he's far too tired to do so, anyway. so he rolls over again to peer at Dick, expression neutral]
[. . .]
Are you lecturing us because you're not-so-secretly touched we wanted to protect you?
[DISGUSTING!! Dick likes his roommates a lot news at 11]
Aw. I'm glad you're a guy in tune with his feelings, then.
[still teasing, but his tone does soften just a little bit, perhaps slightly pleased at the fond notes in Dick's voice]
If it helps, if we really did think you were suspicious, I don't doubt that Yin Yu and I would be the first to say it. [a pause, his gaze flickering towards his other roommate] . . . if only because I don't think you're the kind of guy who would stand for someone innocent being executed in his place.

If you think that's a lecture, wait until I'm actually mad at you. [ he shakes his head ] Not that I needed the protection, but I am a little touched.
