she steels her voice; this is hard to repeat. she only found out this morning. ] He said he had already died, sealing away some god, and not to waste my time looking for him in future.

[. . . it's visible, the way Akira's shoulders tighten, his jaw setting as he clenches his teeth. Minato. . .]

[ it's hard. seeing Akira like this... is also hard, after fighting with him in Nessa's palace. she gives him a heavy, quiet look, assessing. ]

[his lips twitch at that, and he takes in a deep breath]

Not everything. Enough. He is dead to keep world from ending. His soul holds gates shut.

[nods at that, his gaze growing distant]

But not why it's necessary for those gates to be held shut.

God who would end everything... no?

[survivaltricks]

Mmm. That's right.

But there's a reason why that god was trying so hard to do just that.

[ oh, they always have their reasons. ]

Why.

[survivaltricks]

[quietly]

. . . because humanity is wishing for it.

For world to end?

[ she, by comparison, gets SHARP ]

For their pain to stop. For their suffering to end. For the agony of being alive to go away.

And the only way they believe that can happen is--

[here, he trails off]

Agony of being alive? Do they understand nothing in that world? Life is such incredible gift, with so much more than just pain. You push past your pain...

[ she's preaching to the choir, she thinks a second later, and clamps her mouth shut ]

[his lips twitch a bit at that, mouth curving into a smile]

I agree. You know me-- I'm the kind of person who never gives up.

[lifts a hand, staring at his palm for a moment, before he places same against his heart]

But not everyone is that strong.

And so everything must end, for everyone? This is for what Minato perished?
