Anyway--meet you at the diner? I've got a few things to prepare.

[but!! he leaves it there!! and in about an hour, he shows up at the diner, wearing the red jacket that Minato picked out for him at the masquerade shop that one time]

Minato is already there--and he seems to be cooking! There's a box on one of the tables, as tidily wrapped as is possible in a place like this.

When he sees Akira, he brightens. ]

Akira--hey, welcome.

[ to the Diner. ]

[. . . IT'S THEIR FIRST DATE AND ALREADY THERE ARE PRESENTS?? OH NO. . . AKIRA IS NOT PREPARED???]

[eyeing that box with visible confusion as he approaches Minato, hands resting in his pockets]

Huuuh. . . is this the surprise you were talking about?

[ don't expect too much, it's okay.

Anyway, Minato just offers a tiny smile at that, going back to the food he's making (beef bowls!!). ]

Yeah, that's pretty much it. It's not a lot in terms of dates, but... I guess I wanted to try to make things as date-like as possible.

[beef bowls!! with a hum, Akira meanders away from the box and slides up behind Minato to peer at his food]

[and then he sneakily (SNEAKILY!!!) hooks his chin around Minato's shoulder]

Well, if you ask me, just calling it a date makes it date-like enough for me.

Minato just smiles at that, turning his head to nuzzle his nose against Akira's cheek briefly. ]

You're easily pleased then. It's the first date I'm planning, so... I had to give it my best shot, you know?

I can tell. It makes me feel a liiiiittle special.

[a pause]

[. . . and then one arm SNEAKILY slides around Minato's waist from behind]

Minato leans into the hold, of course. When will he ever not do that? Never. Human touch and warmth = good. ]

You are special. You're super special to me, so... I'm glad. That means things are going right so far.

[it's all very new and exciting, and Akira feels some hidden tension evaporating as Minato leans into him. yes, good. . . so this is okay. this sort of affection is good!1 with that kind of positive response, Akira can't help but wrap his other arm around Minato's waist too, pulling him into a gentle hug-from-behind]

. . . you know, if you keep talking like that, I really am going to melt.

[SAID OH-SO LIGHTLY he's obviously joking]

[ he's obviously joking, but he's also being cute, and Minato's lips twitch as he reaches over to turn off the stove. ]

You will, huh...? Maybe I like my boyfriends a little melted around the edges.

[ what does that even mean.

He nudges at Akira a bit. ]

I need to get the rice.

[BUT HE DOES PULL AWAY so Minato can get the rice!!]

[ and as he fetches the rice to plate up-- ]

Soft. A little squishy. Very tasty.

[TURNS A LITTLE RED]

[he isn't thinking about that dream nope no siree]

[ ... Minato just hums a little at that, innocently. ]

Good, I'm glad to hear it. Hopefully the taste lives up to it.

[ Rice in the bowls, and then the beef on top, and some ginger and...!! ]

Dinner's ready. Let's go sit down, okay?

[Akira can't quite tell if that was on purpose or not BUT HE THINKS. . . IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. . . AHEM]

[clears his throat and scuffs at the ground with his toes]

At the bar? I can get us some milkshakes to go with those beef bowls.

[ Ooooh...!! ]

Milkshakes sound great. I'll put these there, then, while you get them.

[ and grab Akira's gift for him. ]

[waggles his fingers at Minato!! then goes fetch them both some good chocolate milkshakes :9]

Minato will set their beef bowls in front of their places at the counter, and then go fetch Akira's present, setting that next to his place. ]

[THAT PRESENT. . .! AKIRA CAME EMPTY HANDED!!!! but he tries not to think about that fact as he slides Minato a freshly made milkshake and slips into a barstool in front of one steaming bowl of beef]
