...I think I gave up on it a long time ago, having normal interactions with peers. I don't mind so much when it's you, but it often feels like a pop quiz that I haven't studied for.

But if you focus on just being yourself, then it's a lot easier.

[and then cutting a much smaller slice for himself because he doesn't really have a sweet tooth]

[he probably won't even eat that much, it just seemed like a cool thing to say]

[has another drink. then, feeling emboldened by alcohol and the confirmation that he has not, in fact, ruined Christmas:]

[-- chokes a little on a bite of cake, suddenly turning away to cough and like. try not to die]
